  •  Hurricane Harvey Information

    Families who fled Hurricane Harvey are eligible to enroll in CHISD. Parents may call campuses directly. No documentation is required at this time and campus staff can assist with online registration. Cedar Hill Action Team and schools will assist those who need uniforms and school supplies. 

     

    McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act

    Defines and protects the rights of homeless students to enroll in, attend, and succeed in public schools
     

    McKinney-Vento Education Definition of Homelessness

    •       Sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar reason

    •       Living in motels, hotels, camping grounds due to lack of adequate alternative accommodations

    •       Living in emergency or transitional shelters

    •       Living in a public or private place not designed for humans to live

    •       Living in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus/train stations

    •       Migratory children living in above circumstances

    •       Children/youth awaiting foster care placement
