  • Hurricane Harvey Relief

The CHHS Student council is looking to form a district coalition to assist those in need as a result of Hurricane Harvey.  I know that many campuses have already started initiatives to take steps to assist in a variety of ways.  We would like to invite you to take those already great initiatives and help us "STUFF THE BUS".

Saturday September 16, 2017  from 7:30 am until noon we will have a CHISD School bus parked in the high school parking lot ready for stuffing!  We propose a friendly competition within the Longhorn Family. We would determine the "Longhorn Servant Heart Champion" and trophy winner by determining the number of items donated by each school in relation to their enrollment.  While this competition is all in good fun, its really for a great cause.

The Dallas area will provide temporary housing for many of those displaced into shelters.  Those shelters  as well as organizations such as the Red Cross are in dire need of many items.  At the conclusion of our STUFF the BUS initiative we will have a CHISD bus drivers and reps from school take the items and drop them off so that they can be sent to both the local shelters as well as those who remained in their homes on the coast.

Together we are all LONGHORN STRONG and can help our neighbors by being TEXAS STRONG!

Please let us know if this is something that you and your campuses would like to participate in.  We have included a list of items that the many outreach organizations are requesting. In addition to these items, many displaced students will need school supplies and backpacks as well.
