Born to the parents of Curtis and Margret Sanders in 1970, Tessie M. Sanders Matlock, is a product of the Dallas Independent School District; graduating from Lincoln Humanities & Communication High School in 1988. She excelled in utilizing her skills daily in Writing/Reading Workshops for both elementary students, and teachers in the Dallas Independent School District, for Division I during the 2012/13 school year. She believes in not just teaching students strong academic skills, but life skills as well. “In order to be successful in life, one must follow the Guidelines of Success: being responsible, being respectful, doing your best, cooperating with others, and stepping up to the challenge without quitting (Tessie Sanders Matlock).

When asked why she chose to teach, her response was, “I didn’t choose teaching. It was chosen for me. Because I hail from a generation of Educators, it’s what’s in my blood. The scripture says, ye shall know them by their fruits.”
