Lake Ridge Elementary

Several years ago, 1020 Lake Ridge Parkway and the surrounding area was known as Magic Valley Ranch.  As the population increased in Cedar Hill housing quickly developed then Lake Ridge Elementary School opened its doors in 2002.   The school was originally known as the Tornadoes, as selected by the student body when it opened.  Today, we stand proud as the Longhorns!

Lake Ridge Elementary is located just minutes away from Joe Pool Lake.  Our zone is south of Beltline Road and west of Clark Road. The school has 350+ students in grades Pre-K thru 5th.  Pre-K thru second grades are self-contained while the third, fourth and fifth graders rotate classes throughout the day.

Regarding faculty and staff, LRE has 27 faculty/teachers and 13 paraprofessionals. There are 10 teachers with masters' degrees.

Our T.E.A. ratings include: TAKS Tests--Recognized--2004-2005; 2005-2006; 2007-2008; 2010-2011; 2011-2012; and Exemplary--2006-2007; 2008-2009.   STAAR Tests--Met Standard--2012-2013; 2013-2014; 2014-15; 2015-16. LRE earned 3 Texas Education Agency distinction designations for 2012-2013: Academic Achievement in Math, Academic Achievement in Reading, and Top 25 Percent Student Progress; two distinctions for 2013-14: Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA and Postsecondary Readiness; and three distinctions for 2014-15: Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA, Academic Achievement in Science, and Top 25 Percent Student Progress.
Four years ago LRE was awarded a grant for Career Explorations involving all grade levels. Each grade level participates in a career area throughout the school year.  Kindergarten and first grade learn about agriculture and farming, second grade is involved in manufacturing, distribution, and merchandising, third grade explores technology and engineering, fourth grade gets fits with health and nutrition, and fifth grade receives first-hand knowledge of government.

PTA is very active at LRE.  They coordinate events such as: All Pro Dads, Popcorn Friday, Race for Education, Grandparents Day, Multicultural Night, classroom volunteers, and Teacher Appreciation Week.  The students enjoy art class once a month thanks to many PTA moms and dads who volunteer their time.

The vision of Lake Ridge Elementary is very simple. We strive to see a safe, orderly and purposeful environment in which everyone feels welcome and accepted and is free from the threat of physical, emotional or psychological harm; a family which includes staff, students and parents working together to maintain a nurturing environment where each child is intellectually challenged; effective methods of teaching evidenced through rigorous academics, a differentiated curriculum, and innovative uses of technology; and lastly the introduction, development and extension of strategies to strengthen higher order thinking skills by providing opportunities for children to learn based upon individual learning styles.

It's a great day to be a Longhorn at Lake Ridge Elementary!
